Boys win Cross Country league!

It was the final week of the cross country league this week and it was all to play for.  The Girls' Team of 13 girls led by Team Captain Jasmine Dolan ran brilliantly as did the 21 strong Boys' Team led by Team Captain Ciaran McLoughlin.

After last weeks race, St. John Fisher had taken the lead by a narrow margin of 2 points, so it was all to play for in the final race.  All of the boys had put in a sterling performance, achieving a very low total of 31 points; it was nail biting waiting for the final result to be read out in the Club House of Woodford Green Athletic Club. There were cheers as, for the first time in 20 years of competing in this event, the boys' team had won the the trophy for St. John's!

Cross country is a real team effort, with all of the children who finish the race affecting the result by taking points from other schools.  So whether you finish 1st, 31st or 99th you can change the result of other teams.
