District Sports - 26th June 2018
St. John's win district sports for 5th year in a row!
The children of St. John's did themselves proud when they travelled to Lee Valley Athletics Centre for the second day of competition in the annual district sports competition. Having put on a fine display of talent at the field events on 19th June where they won both the girls' and boys' competition, the children took to the track in extremely high temperatures for the sprint and relay races. Year 6 down to year 3 put on a fine display in the relay races, excelling in the baton change overs, to qualify for finals in all categories. The sprinters also performed superbly with a number of runners progressing to finals as well. When all points were added up it was a tense wait to find out the results; St. John's won the small schools' field events, the girls' relay trophy and the overall small schools' track event. The points from these events are all combined to give the overall winner of The Sally Gunnell trophy (overall district winners for both small and large schools). St John's finished with an impressive 100 points; 38 points clear of the nearest rival. Well Done Children!!
