Tag Rugby Essex County Final - 16th March 2017

For a second day in a row one of St. john's sports teams headed for a county final; this time to Southend Rugby Club.  The sun shone as the Tag Rugby team took to the pitch for their first match against R.A Butler; it was a scrappy start with St. John's giving away an early try and struggling to get their attacking momentum going.  However, after some words of encouragement at half time, the team came out fighting and in the end gained a comfortable victory winning 7-4.  For the rest of the first round St. John's went from strength to strength and finished unbeaten, and first in the group.

Into the next round the team continued to excel and remained unbeaten to gain a place in the semi-final; they won this match to reach the final, where they once again faced R.A Butler.  Unfortunately this time the match didn't go their way and after conceding the first try they didn't manage to get their momentum back.  The match finished with St. John's conceding their one and only match of the day and ending the tournament in 2nd place.

This is an amazing achievement when you consider that there are over 500 schools in Essex.

Well done team!
