Year 2 Football Festival - 29th September 2017

Today, 29th September 2017, 20 children from Year 2 (accompanied by Mrs Khachy and Mrs Adamson) attended a Football Competition in North Weald Bassett.  The children were split into two teams and enjoyed a superb afternoon playing football against other primary schools from our school partnership.  All members of the team worked together and played very well.  Resilience was in evidence late in the tournament when the players were tired and the rain fell down, but like the others, St. John’s footballers played on.  In fact Team B did so well that they reached the final and continued to play brilliantly throughout.  Unfortunately the match ended in a draw and went to penalties to decide the eventual winners; although they lost to the other team, the children were still very excited to receive their silver medals.  Well done to the team and a special thank you to our team managers, Mrs McLoughlin and Mrs Freedman.  Another special thank you must go to the superb referees, led by Mrs Watkins, from our own St. John’s Year 6.  They showed great stamina and refereed efficiently and fairly.  Well done!
