Year 5 - Cressing Temple

On 19th June 2018, Year 5 went to Cressing Temple to learn all about the Tudors. The children took part in numerous workshops, including; a tour of a traditional walled garden, learning how Tudors used different plants. They brushed their teeth with sage and learnt that Henry VIII introduced a law that only the flowers from hops can be used to make alcohol as the leaves made it too strong; a hands on experience of a Tudor's armour, tactics used in battle and they even attempted archery themselves; a lesson on medicine and how to treat common ailments; and they tried their hand at Tudor games and dancing.

Everyone had a lovely time and we appreciate all the effort made for their costumes, it certainly added to the experience.

Finally, thank you to our kind parent helpers. The day was a great success.
