Sue Sunderland

I have been a governor at St John's C of E primary school for 14 years and have recently been elected as Chair of the LGB. Originally I was elected as a Parent Governor when my daughter attended St John’s but I now serve as a Foundation Governor appointed by the Diocese of Chelmsford.  I have lived in Buckhurst Hill with my husband and daughter for 26 years and attend St John's Church.

I recently retired from my role as a HR Consultant in a large corporate company, where I undertook a number of operational roles before specialising in HR. I have a good understanding of the English educational system having started my career as a Biology teacher in an 11 – 18 secondary school.  In addition to Chairing the LGB meetings I sit on the Pay & HR committee and Headteacher Performance Review where I can best contribute my skills and experience. I also undertake the SEND Governance role.

It is a privilege to serve as a governor at St John's and I am committed to supporting the Headteacher and staff in maintaining the high standards the school has achieved not only in academic work but in educating the whole child through its Christian ethos and wide ranging extra curricular activities.
