Emma Hammerston

I started my career in Early Years over 8 years ago.  Having completed my teacher training on the Schools Direct Program, I joined St John’s as a Reception Class Teacher in September 2016.  Since then I have enjoyed broadening my knowledge and experience across the whole school in areas such as EAL, inclusivity and more recently PSHE.

I strongly believe in the four guiding principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage; every child is unique and with positive relationships, and an enabling environment each child will develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and that these principles can be applied to any child at school.

I  live in Buckhurst Hill with my Husband and 3 children.  I have one child in his final year at St John’s and two now at secondary school.  For the last year I have been a member of  the Local Governing Body as a Staff Governor, and am keen to continue this role  through this exciting time of transition and opportunity, having recently joined the Epping Forest Schools Partnership Trust and with the leadership of our new Headteacher, Mr Furness.  I believe that all stakeholders; staff, parents/carers, governors and external agencies can work in harmony to encourage and support our children as they strive to achieve their goals through a creative curriculum.
